No internet? No problem. Every BISE board in Pakistan offers an SMS result checking service. This guide gives you the exact SMS format and number for every board, plus a complete troubleshooting section if something goes wrong.
Pakistan is a country of nearly 220 million people, with millions of matric students appearing in exams each year. When results are announced, board websites crash under the weight of millions of simultaneous visitors. Students in rural areas with poor internet connectivity face an additional challenge. The SMS result checking service exists to solve exactly this problem, and it has been a reliable fallback option for Pakistani students for many years.
SMS works on any mobile network signal, even in areas with slow or no data connectivity. If you can make a call, you can send an SMS.
Under normal conditions, the result SMS arrives within a few minutes. No waiting for websites to load or pages to refresh.
You do not need a smartphone, app, or data plan. A basic keypad phone can send and receive result SMS just as effectively.
Family members in remote areas can check a student's result on result day without any internet access at all.
That said, if you do have internet access, checking online using our roll number checker tool is faster and gives you a more detailed result display. The SMS service is best used when internet is unavailable or websites are too busy on result day.
Before you send the SMS, make sure you have all four of these things in order. A single mistake in any one of them is usually the reason why people get error replies or no reply at all.
Any mobile phone that can send text messages will work. You do not need internet, a data SIM, or a smartphone. However, make sure your SIM has enough balance to send one or more messages, as the SMS is not free.
Your roll number is printed on your admit card (the card you used to enter the exam hall) and on your result slip or DMC. If you cannot find either, use the guide on how to find your roll number, or ask your school for the information. Do not guess your roll number.
Each BISE board has a specific format. Some want just the roll number. Others want a keyword before the roll number. Some are case-sensitive. Refer to the tables in this guide for the exact format for your board.
Sending to the wrong number means the message goes nowhere useful. Each board has a unique SMS short code or full number. Sending Lahore board's roll number to Multan board's SMS number will give you an error or no reply.
The SMS result reply typically arrives within a few minutes and shows your name, roll number, marks, and grade.
The table below lists the SMS format and number for checking your 10th class matric result for all major BISE boards. The format column shows exactly what to type in your message body.
| BISE Board | SMS Format | Send To | Approx. Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| BISE Lahore | Type roll number e.g. 112233 | 8008 | Rs. 2-5 |

| BISE Sargodha | Type roll number only | 8011 | Rs. 2-5 |

| BISE Karachi (BSEK) | Type: SSC1 ROLLNO e.g. SSC1 445566 | BSEK (2735) | Rs. 3-6 |
SMS numbers and formats may be updated by boards. Always verify on your board's official website if this guide was published before the result date.
The 10th class result (SSC Part 2) has its own roll number series. Make sure you are using your 10th class roll number, not your 9th class roll number. The SMS numbers are the same for most boards, but some have a different prefix for 10th class.
| BISE Board | SMS Format (10th) | Send To | Approx. Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| BISE Lahore | Type roll number e.g. 112233 | 8008 | Rs. 2-5 |
| BISE Multan | Type: result ROLLNO e.g. result 223344 | 8009 | Rs. 2-5 |
| BISE Faisalabad | Type roll number only | 8010 | Rs. 2-5 |
| BISE Sargodha | Type roll number only | 8011 | Rs. 2-5 |
| BISE Rawalpindi | Type: bise ROLLNO e.g. bise 334455 | 8008 | Rs. 2-5 |
| BISE Gujranwala | Type roll number only | 8010 | Rs. 2-5 |
| BISE Sahiwal | Type roll number only | 8009 | Rs. 2-5 |
| BISE DG Khan | Type roll number only | 8009 | Rs. 2-5 |
| BISE Bahawalpur | Type roll number only | 8011 | Rs. 2-5 |
| BISE Karachi (BSEK) | Type: SSC2 ROLLNO e.g. SSC2 556677 | BSEK (2735) | Rs. 3-6 |
Karachi Board Note: BISE Karachi (BSEK) uses SSC1 for 9th class and SSC2 for 10th class in the SMS format. This distinction is important. Sending SSC1 with a 10th class roll number will not return your result.
Follow these six steps carefully and you will have your result on your screen within minutes.
Find the standard SMS or Messages app on your phone. Tap to open it. You are going to compose a new message, not reply to an existing conversation.
Look for a pencil icon, a plus icon, or a 'New Message' button. Tap it to open a blank message screen.
In the recipient field (the 'To:' box at the top), type the board's SMS short code number. For example, for BISE Lahore, type 8008. Do not add any dashes, spaces, or country codes.
In the message text area, type your roll number in the exact format specified by your board. Most Punjab boards just need your roll number. Some need a keyword first.
Read your message one more time. Confirm the recipient number matches your board's SMS code. Confirm your roll number has no typos. Confirm there are no extra spaces at the beginning or end of the message body.
Tap the send button. Under normal conditions, the reply arrives within 1 to 5 minutes. On peak result announcement days, it may take up to 15 to 30 minutes. Keep your phone nearby and your SMS app open.
When the result SMS arrives, it contains a lot of information packed into a short message. Here is how to read and understand it.
BISE LAHORE RESULT 2026
Name: MUHAMMAD ALI
Father: AHMED ALI
Roll No: 112233
Marks: 890/1100
Grade: A
Status: PASS
Your full name as registered with the board when you applied for the exam
Your father's name for identity verification
Your exam roll number confirming this is the right candidate's result
Your total obtained marks out of the maximum marks for that class
Your overall letter grade based on the percentage of marks obtained
Whether you have passed or failed the overall exam
Note that the SMS gives you a summary result. It may not include individual subject-by-subject marks due to SMS character length limits. For a complete subject-wise result, check online using our roll number checker or collect your DMC from the board office. To understand your percentage, use the matric percentage calculator.
If your SMS result check is not working, work through this troubleshooting list one step at a time.
First check that your message was actually sent (not stuck in outbox). Then resend. If still no reply, try from a different SIM or network. The system may be overloaded on result announcement day.
Your roll number was not recognized. Check for typos. Make sure you are using the correct roll number for the correct class (9th or 10th). Confirm you are sending to the correct board's SMS number.
Check your mobile balance. Make sure you have signal. Confirm the SMS number is correct (no country code needed for short codes). Try again after a few minutes.
You likely typed the wrong roll number. Check the name in the reply. If it is not yours, resend with your correct roll number.
The result has not been officially announced yet, or the SMS service has not been activated for this result cycle yet. Check the board's official website for the result announcement date.
On result announcement day the SMS servers get millions of requests. Wait 15 to 30 minutes and try again, ideally in the evening when traffic is lower. You can also try checking online at non-peak hours.
Some networks truncate long SMS messages. The important information (pass/fail status, total marks) is usually in the first part of the message. If you need the full detail, check the result online.
BISE boards occasionally change their SMS service providers and numbers. If a number in this guide is not responding, check the board's official website or our updated guides at the link below.
SMS is not the only offline option. Here are three more ways to check your result without any internet connection.
Most BISE boards have a helpline or inquiry number you can call on result day. Staff can verbally confirm your result. Check your board's official website for the helpline number.
The board office displays results on notice boards and can issue a printout of your result. This is also where you collect your official DMC after results are announced.
Schools typically receive result notifications on announcement day and share them with students and parents. Your school principal or head teacher can confirm your result from school records.
Both methods pull from the same official BISE database, so the marks and result status you get are identical. The choice between SMS and online comes down to your situation and what you need.
| Feature | SMS Method | Online Method |
|---|---|---|
| Internet required | No | Yes |
| Works on basic phone | Yes | No (needs browser) |
| Detailed subject marks | Often summarized only | Full subject-wise breakdown |
| Works when site is busy | Usually yes | Often slow or down on result day |
| Can print result | No (SMS only) | Yes (printable page) |
| Official for admission use | No (SMS not accepted) | No (DMC is official) |
| Cost | Rs. 2-6 per SMS | Free (if you have internet) |
| Best for | Immediate check, no internet | Detailed review, sharing screenshot |
Recommendation: If internet is available, use the online roll number checker for a more complete result display. If internet is unavailable or the website is too slow on result day, the SMS method is your best immediate option. For official purposes like college admission, always use the DMC collected from the board office.
Whichever method you use first, remember that neither the SMS nor an online result printout is a legal document. The official DMC (Detail Marks Certificate) issued by the board is the only document accepted for college admission, scholarship applications, and job purposes. Once results are announced, plan to collect your DMC from the board office or through your school.
